Announcing the Winners of the 6th Annual UMaine Business Challenge!

The UBC Team and Business Lending Solutions are pleased to award the following teams with cash prizes to help kickstart their business:


First Place: [Re]produce

Anita van Dam and Grace Burchard, students from College of the Atlantic, took home the First Place prize of $5000! The cash will go towards helping them launch their business, [Re]produce, in the fall – good luck Anita & Grace!


Second Place:


Boreal Games

Bradley Shepherd, Devin Shepherd, and William McEnery – the team behind Boreal Games – took home the Second Place prize of $1000! They'll be using the funding to help develop their tactical card game: Crystal Companies


Tech Prize: Comfort Appliance

Benjamin Koehler, a Mechanical Engineering student from UMaine, took home the $5000 Technology Prize for his innovation: Comfort Appliance

The UMaine Business Challenge

Open to ALL students attending a College or University in the state of Maine, the UMaine Business Challenge is a collegiate pitch competition that provides student entrepreneurs with an opportunity to compete for $5000 to kick-start their business! 





The UMaine Business Challenge (UBC), presented by Business Lending Solutions, provides collegiate entrepreneurs with the support necessary to transform their business dreams into reality. The 2018 competition, open to all students attending a Maine College or University, includes over $20,000 in cash and consulting prizes.  The UBC’s mission is to contribute to the long-term growth of Maine’s economy while also supporting entrepreneurial and student development.



The UBC was founded with the mission to support student entrepreneurs in turning their business dreams into reality.
